The winner: Levon Aronian
In what can be considered an excellent last round, Levon Aronian became the glorious winner of the 2nd FIDE Grand Prix Tournament in Sochi, Russia. And he did it in style, defeating Alexander Grischuk in a fine positional game. In a crazy game Radjabov beat Karjakin to finish clear second, followed by Wang Yue and Kamsky who share third place. Round 12: Svidler beats Jakovenko, Aronian retains lead |

It can't be Christmas every day. In the penultimate round of the Sochi Grand Prix, six games ended in a draw, and four of them rather quickly. Wang Yue-Navara and Cheparinov-Al-Modiahki were rather interesting fights and in the (end)game of the day, Svidler managed to score the only victory, against Jakovenko. Aronian retains sole lead with 7.5/12.

Round 11: Four wins, Aronian grabs sole lead |

In another great round played in Sochi, the chess fans saw fascinating fights that resulted in four decisive games and three very interesting draws. What more can we wish for? Aronian has taken sole lead with 7/11, followed by Wang Yue, Karjakin and Radjabov with 6.5/11.

Round 10: Five wins: Aronian, Gashimov, Radjabov & Wang Yue lead |

The 10th round of the Sochi Grand Prix was clearly the most spectacular so far. At an early stage, three games were suddenly decided, and none of these were drawn! Aronian beat Cheparinov with Black to take over the lead from his direct opponent; he shares it with Gashimov, Wang Yue and Radjabov, who came back on top.
